What weather can we expect in Bolivia?

Additionally, when it comes to food, it is best to avoid street food and salads or other meals that may have been washed with tap water. Instead, opt for cooked food or fruits that can be peeled.

What travel medications should I bring?

At some point during our trip point most of us will experience some mild traveler’s diarrhea. It is a good idea to request and have filled a prescription of Ciprofloxacin, an antibiotic, from your doctor before the tip. This medication is extremely effective in treating travelers’ diarrhea caused however it will irritate your normal gut biome. In addition to Ciprofloxacin, it is usually a good idea to bring over the counter anti-diarrheal medications like Pepto-Bismal or Imodium A-D.

What about altitude sickness?

Cochabamba has an elevation of 8,392 feet, so it is possible that some guests may experience mild altitude sickness. Sorojchi pills are commonly sold in Bolivia to treat mild altitude sickness and are a combination of aspirin, Tylenol, and caffeine. If you have had trouble at higher altitudes in the past, you may want to talk to your doctor about a prescription for Diamox (Acetazolamide) to help prevent altitude sickness.
